Today we started with some icebreaker activities that were actually not awful (like most get to know you games are). We got into a small group and discussed our answers to some questions, we then introduced our group members to the rest of the PLACE people. Following this we discussed the overall plans for the class and the activities of the next week. We then broke up into smaller groups and went to investigate the usage of certain places within walking distance of our homebase. My group looked at an intersection where the main purpose of the space was as a means to get elsewhere – through walking or transit. This was a good activity for the beginning of PLACE since we were looking at the usage of urban spaces. It was a great first day, and I am looking forwards to more fun days with these fun people!
